Don't attempt to do this at home

Found one video on youtube.com on recharging a non-rechargeable battery, how dangerous it would be to recharge a non-rechargeable alkaline batteries?

Try recharging non-rechargeable batteries (extract from youtube.com)

We are warned not do charge a normal alkaline battery on a battery charger as stated in the disclaimer on the battery package where nobody guarantee any accident could happen and how serious it will cause due to the intention to recharge an alkali battery.

Looking at this guy who claimed to be an expert from a certain institute who so-called prepare the safety measure in place before the actual demo. The safety precaution prepared is not sufficient, e.g.

  1. Fire distinguisher at the site
  2. protecting shield made from a glass lid
  3. Bandage for emergency rescue
  4. Vicks Vapor Rub to prevent any breathing difficulties

The way he did the experiment is not secure at all. The site is setup at a kitchen, during the demo, he even feel and sounds like worry and gasping. For a closer look, he even dare to touch the alkaline battery being recharging as if it will explode anytime.

Luckily there isn't any accident during the video being shot, although the alkaline battery was getting hotter due to the chemical reaction occurred inside the battery, but nothing leak out.

At the end of the demo, he seems to be convinced by the result and claimed that all this while, all the battery companies was lying to the public which is not true. As well as nobody claim that this experiment is accurate or reliable. He seems like finding a new discovery.

Some of the comments given for this short video, saying this guy was crazy and weird.
